The Key, The Secret

Urban Cookie Collective were formed in 1990. The group was founded by Rohan Heath who had previously toured Japan in support of The Happy Mondays and was part of A Guy Called Gerald.

It was as Urban Cookie Collective that had real success though, most famously putting out the 1993 hit single ‘The Key, The Secret’ which peaked at #2 in the UK, #3 in Australia and #5 in Germany.

It was originally a track written at home by Heath, in a soul and hip hop vein. After a subsequent re-mix provoked a massive club response it was picked up by the Pulse 8 record label. The follow-up release “Feels Like Heaven“ was also a huge success with further singles ‘Sail Away’ and ‘High on a Happy Vibe’ also hitting the top 10 across Europe.

Many UCC hits went platinum and are still used in adverts and on TV to this day. As a result the band played all over the world from Russia to Denmark, South Korea to Slovenia, Estonia to India. Their energetic live PAs have taken them from live TV shows to Olympic stadiums and have won them plenty of awards in their time.
